The Four Legged Part of our Family: Part I

Or, should I say parts? We have what we call a zoo in our home. I have a history of finding abandoned animals and falling in love with them. My first rescue was Pepper, a sweet dachsund/terrier mix who was abandoned at Lowe's. Luckily, our friends Mike and Patricia were thinking of getting a dog and took her in. We still enjoy going to visit Pepper at their home and are pretty sure she remembers us. Shane, of course, claims all responsibility for her cute name.

Sadie, our yellow lab, has been a part of our family since she was a puppy. She will be twelve years old on July 15th. Man, how time flies. She is a very sweet and loveable dog. We like to refer to her as a gentle giant. She is so tolerant of other animals and kids. She thinks all cats should be her friend and is obviously upset when they don't want to be. She also has gotten quite ambivelent in her old age and feels entitled to anything and everything in our home, including whatever is on the kitchen counters or in the panty. Just this week, she pulled a twenty pound bag of Riley's food from the kitchen pantry into the dining room and proceeded to feast. Sadly, her legs are starting to give out on her and she suffers from arthritis. We can only hope to give her the best rest of her life that we can.

Hiding at bath time!

Happy Early Birthday, Old Girl!
