What's Up?

It has been a while since I last posted. My surgery was 10 or so days ago. Just to update you on what happened during surgery, I was under anesthesia for about 5 hours which is a really long time and I AM feeling it. They removed my uterus, tubes, ovaries, appendix and cervix. They had to do some pretty extensive work on my bladder as it was attached to my uterus. They did not have to do a colon resection...Praise God! But, they did have to operate on my colon and intestines which means lots of cutting and stitching and I AM feeling it, too. Basically, I am tired and it feels like someone beat my abdomen with a bat. I can get up and do things, which I should. But, I can't do any lifting or too much bending. We are so fortunate to have had many friends bring us meals as I am just not up to cooking yet.

I stayed in the hospital for 3 nights. The day of and after surgery, I was doing real well...just some pain that was alleviated from the pain pump. I was feeling so well in fact that I sent Shane home to sleep in his own bed. Wouldn't you know that a couple of hours later, I started getting nauseous and running a fever and spent the night vomiting. They hooked me up with some good IV nausea meds but it took a while for the vomiting to stop. It was not easy to get up as I was still hooked up to the IV and had a catheter in me. I had the night nurse earning her pay that night. Shane came the next morning (he was not happy with me that I had not called him during the night). The nausea stayed very strong for a good 24+ hours. As soon as it went away on Sunday morning, I started working on solid food. By 2pm that afternoon I was asking to be released. Hospitals are the most horrible place to be...about the time you finally fall asleep they come in your room to give you meds, check your temp, etc. I think Shane slept better than I did. I was worried about leaving early but I just wanted to get home into my own bed.

Am I getting restless??? Yes!!! I am not a big TV watcher so I am getting bored. With all that anesthesia, it is still hard to concentrate while reading but I have managed to read a few magazines. My hope is to get out some this weekend. I would love to watch Jacob race on Saturday. I will have to see how I am doing. Today was not a good day but tomorrow may be better. My brain is only half functioning (common with that much anesthesia). Hopefully, that won't last too long. I have taxes to start working on!

Thank you for all your prayers! I really felt it as I was going into surgery. I had no anxiety and was very calm up until the point that I went under. Only then did I have to start calming myself down.

I will update everyone on everything else that is going on in our lives later. God bless!
