Jacob got 6th place out of 38 riders in the Race of Champions (Grands pre-race) and 4th out of 45 at the Grands! This video covers his Grands seeding and main events.

Video of Sadie
This is the last video I have that I have not shared with you. This is one of Sadie's life. We love to watch it as we miss her so much (I do NOT however miss the daily shedding). We have talked about what kind of dog we want next. We can understand how people replace their labs with labs but are just not sure we can deal with all that hair. The decision has been put on the back burner for a while, at least another six months. So, if you have a puppy we can come over and play with, please let us know :)

Shane's 40th
May 22nd, Shane turned 40 years old. I can't believe I have had the privilege of spending 23 years out of 40 with him, over half of our lives.
I tried to pull off a surprise party but he saw a text on my phone and found out about a week before the party. I still didn't tell him what the party would be like and who was coming, so the best part was still a surprise to him. And, since he new about it I was able to put him to work cleaning and setting up before he went off with some friends to the motocross track.
I rented a bouncer/slide to keep the kids busy. My SIL brought wine, beer and champagne from her wine bar...that was a huge help for me. Most everyone brought food so there was plenty to eat. There were around 80 people in our small house :)
This is a power point presentation I made of his life. I had to start at 8 years old as we couldn't get any baby pictures of him.
Enjoy!

Video of Bryce and Shoes...you'll see :)
When we first introduced Bryce to shoes, he would just stand there and cry when we put them on his feet. Would not take a step. Watch and see what happens!
Pretty cute, huh?

Misc. Pictures
These pictures were taken during Jacob's Field Day:

When Bryce goes to bed at night, sometimes he just leans over and puts his head down and goes right to sleep. Too cute!

Some of our recent favorite pics:
This picture was taken over Spring Break when we were in Desoto, TX for a BMX National race. Bryce is wearing his daddy's Thor hat and what we called his prison pj's.

Jacob's 9th Birthday Party
The last post I made, which was last April, was for Jacob's 9th birthday. His big present from us was a new mountain bike. We also threw him a birthday party at Stone Moves, indoor rock climbing. He and several of his friends loved the rock climbing.
PawPaw and Bryce. My parents were gracious enough to take Bryce back to their home once we found out that the party room was on the 2nd floor and not safe for Bryce.
That's Jacob way up high. I always said he was a monkey but he is nothing compared to Bryce :o

After the party, we took Rainn and Ethan home with us to play and then head to the BMX track later on. They were stuffed into the Yukon with the balloons :)

SADIE July 15, 1996 - August 7, 2010
The next morning she wasn't any better so off to the vet we went. She was having trouble walking on her own, another sign something was wrong. Our vet said her heart was beating erratically and we got to hear just how erratic it was with an EKG. It was fluctuating between 120 bpm and 183 bpm over just a few seconds. There wasn't anything we could really do for her. In addition to heart failure, there was fluid in her lungs which was causing her breathing problems. We hated to make the decision to put her down but felt it was the best thing for her. She had been suffering off and on for the last 2 months. The vet gave her a sedative and we talked to her and loved on her until she fell asleep. Her last moments were very peaceful.
I have read the book Heaven by Randy Alcorn. It is a very hard read but worth the effort. In the book he discusses how Heaven will be much like the Garden of Eden, God's Heaven on earth. In the Garden of Eden there were many animals. The bible also talks about walking beside lions in Heaven. Although we won't know until we get there, I believe our animals will be there. For me, Heaven would include all of my animals (well most of them minus the cat litter and piles of poop in the backyard :)
Sadie was a gentle dog. She loved babies (I found humor in watching friends pull their babies away from her...all she wanted to do was love on them). She also loved cats and thought they should all be her friends. Too funny! One of the cats on our street attacked her when she got too close once. But they fast became friends and would sit next to each other at the bus stop.
I will miss the sound of her breathing at night (a comfort to me). I will miss her nudging my hand for some affection and always laying at my feet. I will miss her "kisses". I will miss her when it is too quiet in our house. She was a good protector of the boys and our home. I will never forget when Jacob got out of my sight on the gully and fell riding his bike. She heard him and pulled so hard that I finally had to let her leash go. When I caught up, she was sitting right by his side, making sure that he was ok. She loved to ride in the car and to go on walks...what dog doesn't? She was so accepting of other dogs and cats "visiting" our home. She put up with a lot around here :)
Now I understand why some people replace their dogs so fast....they can't stand how hard it is to lose them!

Bryce's 1st Birthday
Bryce turned 1 year old on May 12th. We threw him a birthday party on the 8th. We invited family and some great friends to celebrate with us. I think he had lots of fun even though he thought we were all crazy for singing to him with silly hats on our heads.

Playing with cousins Daniel and Joy (who turned one on May 15th). Joy was teaching Bryce how to hug and kiss. Now he does that to all the babies that he sees.

Canyon Lake
Early in June, we went to stay at Grandpa's (aka Shane's Dad) lake house in Canyon Lake. Jacob and Shane were racing in a Texas State Qualifier in San Antonio that weekend and we wanted to stay a couple of extra days to relax. I can't remember now how either of them did at the race. I do remember that Jacob had a bad gate position and didn't do as well as we would have liked :(
We took Bryce out on the boat and went swimming in our favorite little cove. He did not like the boat ride or the lake. I think it was the life vest, though. It was in his face and he didn't like being restricted or constricted.
One day, Shane, Jacob and PawPaw went out on the boat to get some tubing in. They had fun while Mimi, Bryce and I relaxed at the house.
As much as we love the lake, there isn't too much to do with a baby there. I am looking forward to Bryce being a little older and being able to spend more time on the boat and tubing on the Guadalupe....and Schlitterbahn!
